In partnership with Southern Utah’s most influential business founders and leaders, Utah Tech University’s Atwood Innovation Plaza and the Nucleus Institute are hosting the entrepreneurial focused conference Boost.
Offering both Utah Tech students and community members an inside view into what it takes to be their own boss, Boost is set to take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 2 in Utah Tech’s Zion Room, located on the 5th floor of the Holland Centennial Commons. Admission is free and the community is encouraged to attend.
“The mentorship and networking available at this event are the kind of opportunities that can change the trajectory of a business,” Aaron Davis, executive director of Utah Tech’s Atwood Innovation Plaza, said. “A single conversation with the right founder can save someone years of trial and error. We hope attendees leave Boost knowing the Atwood Innovation Plaza is here for them long after the event with the resources, mentors and space to keep building.”
The event opens with a speaker series featuring Swig Founder Nicole Robison, Zonos Founder and CEO Clint Reid, Intergalactic CEO Brian McCann, Paparazzi Co-Founder Misty Kirby and others from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The afternoon will feature mentoring sessions with more than 20 founders of local businesses from 1 to 3 p.m.
Boost is part of the Nucleus Institute’s broader effort to ensure founders and builders across Utah have access to the people, knowledge and capital that move companies forward. The institute follows a strategic framework to drive statewide innovation through the power of academic, industry and government collaboration.
Additionally, Boost is held in line with Utah Tech University’s “active learning. active life.” approach to education, which emphasizes hands-on learning, career preparation, up-skilling and lifelong learning. As part of this approach, the university’s Atwood Innovation Plaza is a regional hub for innovation, entrepreneurship and workforce development. Though housed at the university, the majority of the plaza’s users come from the broader community — entrepreneurs, small business owners, kindergarten through 12th grade students and residents across Washington, Kane, Iron and Sevier counties.
