Dixie State University Jazz Ensemble kicks off the season with a virtual concert

Taking an innovative approach to performing while keeping audience members safe in the midst of a pandemic, Dixie State University’s Jazz Ensemble is opening the season with a virtual concert.

Taking place on Monday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., Dr. Glenn Webb will lead the Jazz Ensemble for students, faculty, staff and community members to enjoy via livestream on the DSU Music Department’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

“I am thrilled to be able to present a concert after months of going without live performances,” Webb said. “Students as well as audiences have been anxious to get back to sharing these wonderful experiences that are so valuable to us.”

The Dixie State Jazz Ensemble performs on and off campus every semester featuring student soloists and frequent guest artists. This audition-only group is made up of mostly music majors but is open to any talented musician. Their repertoire stretches from the 1930’s Big Band era to the current day.
