Dixie State, St. George Chamber to host congressional candidates in virtual forum

In their second and final candidate forum of the 2020 election countdown, Dixie State University’s Institute of Politics & Public Affairs and the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting candidates for Utah’s Second Congressional District for the U.S. House of Representatives.

As part of the virtual forum, each candidate — Rep. Chris Stewart (R), Candidate Kael Weston (D) and Candidate Rob Latham (L) — will engage in a 30-minute one-on-one conversation with Vince Brown, director of Dixie State’s Institute of Politics & Public Affairs. The forum, which is open to the public, is set to take place Oct. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be available via live stream at facebook.com/dsupolitics.

“We are so pleased that the candidates have agreed to participate in this forum and discuss the issues that are salient and germane to our community here in Southern Utah and our nation,” Brown said. “A forum, unlike a traditional debate, allows the parties to more deeply explore the issues in a format that encourages civility and comity.”

Earlier this month, Dixie State and the Chamber partnered to host candidates for seats in Utah House District 75, House District 74, and Senate District 29 in a forum that is available to view at facebook.com/dsupolitics.
