Featuring more than 70 classes and clubs, Utah Tech University’s Institute for Continued Learning is opening registration for the fall semester.
Hosted on the Utah Tech campus, the Institute for Continued Learning offers a wide variety of noncredit-bearing classes, clubs, lectures and activities led by knowledgeable community volunteers. With opportunities to explore topics ranging from history, literature and technology to health, arts and recreation, the program helps lifelong learners intellectually engage, socially connect and actively participate in the community. Classes are held during the day, Monday through Friday, with select courses also available in a recorded online format, providing flexibility for members.
Registration is available at icl.utahtech.edu as well as during a live event at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 29 in the lobby of the Udvar-Hazy Business Building on the Utah Tech campus. The registration event will include opportunities to meet other ICL members as well as take a tour of campus. Fall programming begins Sept. 8.
“ICL thrives because of our incredible members — their curiosity, enthusiasm and wealth of life experience,” Cynthia Holman-Schmidt, executive director of the Institute for Continued Learning, said. “Together, we continue to strengthen our community by creating opportunities for lifelong learning, meaningful friendships, volunteer service and lasting connections. As we grow, so does our ability to enrich lives and inspire others to join us on the journey of learning. I hope you will join us.”
Among 24 new classes being offered this semester, new offerings include CPR Certification Training; Adventures in Science, Engineering and Technology; Introduction to AI and Ethics; Landscape Painting; A Practical Guide to the U.S. Constitution and Laws; Beginning Couples Social Dance; Wilderness Survival and Pickleball Fun for Newbies.
Returning favorites include Geology; Brainworks: A Toolbox for the Mind; History of Washington County; Native American Flute; Creative Writing and Folklore and Mythology along with courses in water conservation, cooking, history, science, literature, finance, law, art, music, health and wellness, philosophy, personal growth, sports and exercise.
Members can also participate in a wide variety of clubs, including piano, Native American flute, hiking, skiing, table tennis, personal exercise program and desert archaeology. ICL includes no tests, no grades and no pressure — just the opportunity to explore new interests, expand knowledge and connect with others who share a passion for lifelong learning.
Institute for Continued Learning, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), offers memberships for $90 for an entire year or $60 per semester, and memberships include unlimited enrollment in available classes. Memberships and course descriptions are available at icl.utahtech.edu, and registration for fall classes opens at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 29.
