Utah Tech University is aware of federal actions impacting international students and is closely monitoring Student and Exchange Visitor Information System status changes. Staff in the University’s Office of International Programs are offering support and resources to affected students, helping them follow federal laws and regulations, and working with Academic Affairs to help impacted students.
Across the country, the Department of Homeland Security is canceling select international students’ I-20s, also known as their Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status. Once international students’ I-20s have been canceled, students have 15 days to leave the United States or regain their status by getting their I-20 reinstated.
At this time, 10 Utah Tech international students have had their I-20s canceled. These students have received information and support from our International Programs office. Please note that the cancelation of an I-20 is a different process than deportation and no UT students have been detained or deported at this time.
Utah Tech University will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with impacted students.
