Utah Tech University to celebrate Homecoming with concert, carnival, football game

With events like a carnival, country concert and firework show as well as an ultimate tailgate experience and football game vs. in-conference rival Southern Utah University, the community is invited to join Utah Tech University in celebrating the institution’s Homecoming the first week of November.

“We are so excited to welcome alumni and the community to campus to celebrate Homecoming Week this year,” Brooke Sullivan, the events and marketing coordinator for the Utah Tech Alumni Association, said. “From the carnival and concert to the parade and football game, there is something for everyone.”

Kicking off Homecoming Week, Utah Tech will host the Miss Utah Tech competition at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 in the M.K. Cox Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 and available at utahtech.edu/ticket-office. The following day, a celebration of Día de los Muertos will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 in the Kenneth N. Gardner Student Center Ballroom.

Utah Tech will then begin the weekend festivities with a carnival and country concert on Nov. 4 on the Encampment Mall on campus. The carnival will begin at 5 p.m. and the concert will follow at 7 p.m. There will be a firework show after the concert.

The final day of Homecoming, Nov. 5, will begin with a parade down University Avenue at 10 a.m. Shortly after, the renovated westside grandstands of Greater Zion Stadium will be dedicated at 11:30 a.m. That afternoon will feature Trailblazer Village, the ultimate Homecoming tailgate experience, at 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Bruce Hurst Field. Homecoming Week will culminate with Trailblazer football taking on Southern Utah University for the first time at home in 60 years at 6 p.m. in Greater Zion Stadium.

“There is nothing quite like the spirit of homecoming on Utah Tech’s campus. Honoring our history, current students, and the future that we are moving towards truly creates a tangible energy,” Sarah Ramaker, assistant director of student involvement & leadership at Utah Tech, said. “Having the community and alumni at the events only further helps us encompass our active work towards blazing new trails. We invite you to come and recognize and be a part of our homecoming events to feel this Trailblazer Spirit yourself!”
