Dixie State University to host 6-part Community Education Outreach Series

Offering lectures on a variety of topics, Dixie State University’s Community Education Outreach Series is extending learning opportunities to the rural communities of Southern Utah.

The six lectures, to be held throughout February and March, will be presented live at Dixie State’s Hurricane Education Center and lives treamed at the Kanab and Hildale centers. Participants can attend all six lectures or select just a few.

“Lifelong learning is extremely beneficial and the opportunity we have with this series is really remarkable,” Tyson Pulsipher, director of Community Education at Dixie State, said. “The knowledge and experience the presenters bring to each session is really special. I would highly recommend signing up for the entire series, even if a particular subject does not sound appealing. The lectures are based on entire classes offered through Community Education, and each session will highlight the best of the best in that subject.”

The series will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. each Wednesday starting Feb. 2 and running through March 9. Additionally, the bonus lecture, “Taking the Mystery out of Medicare,” will be presented by Jamie Whitlock exclusively through Zoom at noon on Feb. 22.

“DSU is committed to bringing educational opportunities to our rural communities — that’s why we have beautiful branch campuses in Hurricane, Kanab and Hildale,” Dr. Nancy Hauck, Dixie State’s associate provost of Community & Global Engagement, said. “We care about the lifelong learning of community members across our service area and know the transformative power learning can bring to the life of each person.”
