Recognizing Dixie State University’s continued growth and success, President Richard B. Williams shared the accomplishments of the institution’s 2015-2020 strategic plan, Status to Stature, and unveiled the new plan, Trailblazing Distinction, at his annual State of the University Address on Wednesday.
“DSU’s new strategic plan will elevate the University’s offerings and set us apart from any other institution in the nation,” Williams said. “Trailblazing Distinction will lay the foundation necessary for the University to be open, inclusive, comprehensive and polytechnic while continuing to provide unique learning experiences, valuable resources and unprecedented ‘active learning. active life.’ opportunities.”
As part of the address, Williams highlighted the goals of the new plan, including establishing distinctive academic programs, increasing enrollment, elevating institutional capacity and performance, increasing community involvement, and recruiting and retaining diverse faculty and staff.
“The previous strategic plan – Dixie 2020: Status to Stature – was aimed at building our University capacity and programs,” Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Michael Lacourse said. “Now that we have achieved the stature of a university, we will become a premiere open, inclusive, comprehensive, polytechnic university providing students with exceptional opportunities for lifelong learning and success.”
Much of the growth at Dixie State in recent years has come from a collective commitment to its five-year strategic plan. Initiated in 2015 as a map to guide the university in its growth from gaining university status to securing university stature, most of the goals outlined in the retired strategic plan have been achieved.
Some of DSU’s achievements from the past five years include increasing student enrollment by 41 percent, enhancing academics by adding 111 programs, investing in faculty and staff, enhancing support for inclusion and equity, and establishing a strong brand identity.
