Hollywood violinist to highlight experiences at next Dixie Forum
Artist Lisa Dondlinger will share how she evolved from an aspiring violinist from Iowa to a Grammy-nominated artist living in Los Angeles at the next installment of Dixie State University’s weekly lecture series Dixie Forum: A Window on the World.
Dondlinger’s presentation, “From Iowa to Hollywood with Love,” will start at noon on Jan. 22 in the Dunford Auditorium, located in the Browning Resource Center on the Dixie State campus. Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
When Dondlinger moved to Los Angeles, she had just her violin and a dream. Today, she has been a part of multiple musical projects. In addition to working with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business such as Lady Gaga, John Legend and Stevie Wonder, Dondlinger also has performed as a soloist and concert master on an array of TV shows and movies including The GRAMMY Awards, “Dancing with the Stars,” “The Ellen Show,” “Finding Dory” and “The Greatest Showman.”
Combining the technique of a studio musician with the charisma of a leading artist to create music that centers around classical and pop genres, Dondlinger is recognized as a game changer in the music industry. Additionally, she released her first album, “Movies & the Masters,” in 2017.
Dixie Forum is a weekly lecture series designed to introduce the St. George and Dixie State communities to diverse ideas and personalities while widening their worldviews via a 50-minute presentation. The next installment of Dixie Forum is set to take place at noon on Jan. 29 in the Dunford Auditorium. Dr. James Swensen will share about Ansel Adams and Dorothea Lange’s 1953 photojournalism project, Three Mormon Towns, in his presentation “A Portrait of St. George, Gunlock and Toquervile.”
