Dixie’s Got Talent Finale to showcase local talent, support scholarships

Culminating a tight competition among a variety of Washington County performers, the Dixie’s Got Talent 2019 Finale, hosted by the Dixie State University Alumni Association, promises to be an entertaining evening of raising funds for DSU scholarships. Featuring 20 acts, the finale of the ninth annual multi-round talent competition is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 in the M.K. Cox Performing Arts Center on the Dixie State campus. “Dixie's Got Talent is a wonderful event that showcases our amazing local talent,” John Bowler, Dixie State alumni relations director, said. “Equally as exciting, all proceeds go toward scholarships for Dixie State University students.” Contestants, who were carefully selected from a pool of talented teams and individuals, are grouped into youth and adult categories. A winner and runner-up will be selected for each category, based on the scores they receive from the prestigious panel of judges and mobile voting from the enthusiastic audience. The first-place winner and runner-up in each category will receive a cash prize, gain experience and exposure before a huge audience, and hold the title of Dixie’s Got Talent winner for the year. The first round of the competition was held in November, followed by callback auditions. From there, 20 finalists were chosen to move ahead to perform before a 1,200-member audience in the finale. The Dixie State University Alumni Association produces Dixie’s Got Talent in cooperation with the Student Alumni Association and the university. The show sells out regularly and all funds raised are contributed to scholarships for Dixie State students. Tickets to the Dixie’s Got Talent 2019 Finale start at $10 and are available at dsutix.com or by calling the Dixie State University Box Office at 435-652-7800.
