Utah Tech University students offering free yardwork services to local residents

As a way to give back to the St. George community, Utah Tech University students are looking for community members who need help with spring cleaning.

Through Campus to Community, Utah Tech University Student Association’s largest service project of the year, UT students are offering outdoor services like weeding and other yard work, painting and window washing. Service will be offered free of charge on Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Community members are invited to submit requests for service through Feb. 16. The student association’s Service Branch will vet all requests, schedule site visits prior to the day of service and notify requestors if students will be able to fulfill their request.

“Campus to Community is one of my favorite events this year because it allows me to give back to the community that has given me so much,” Olivia Shoaf, vice president of service for the Utah Tech Student Association, said. “I love the Campus to Community event because it allows for me to build a connection and help others in St. George.”

Students will be divided into groups and assigned projects, enabling them to meet as many service needs as possible. The annual Campus to Community project reflects the Service Branch’s “Blazers Give Back” motto and serves as a meaningful way for students to thank the St. George community for their continued support of Trailblazer Nation.
