Utah Tech University orchestra presents free Concert Under the Stars

Bringing together community members for a night of musical entertainment, Utah Tech’s University Orchestra will perform the 12th Annual Concert Under the Stars in collaboration with the City of St. George.

The event is set to take place on Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at St. George Town Square and will be directed by Paul Abegg, professor of music and director of strings and orchestras at Utah Tech. The event is free and open to the public and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

“The University Orchestra’s Concert Under the Stars is a highlight of summer for us,” St. George resident John Gardiner said. “The setting and performances of wonderful music all make it an event we look forward to each year.”

The program will feature classical, popular and patriotic music beginning with the national anthem sung by the audience and accompanied by the University Orchestra. The finale will showcase Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture set to fireworks.

“This event is an absolute must,” Kyle Wells, Utah Tech business professor, said. “It is pure Americana and captures everything great about our great country and community. I wouldn’t miss it.”

The concert has been a part of the southern Utah community for more than a decade and is an opportunity to unite Trailblazers from both the university and the community to appreciate local talent.
