Registration opening for Utah Tech University’s Institute for Continued Learning

Offering classes and clubs to Southern Utah’s 50+ community, Utah Tech University’s Institute for Continued Learning is opening registration for the fall semester.

Registration opens with a free ice cream social from 2 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the St. George Social Hall, 47 E. 200 North. Open to both new and returning ICL participants, the ice cream social is an opportunity to socialize, meet instructors and receive assistance registering for classes if needed. Online registration is also available at icl.utahtech.edu.

Held on the Utah Tech campus and led by community experts, the institute is designed for retired individuals and allows members to participate in as many activities as desired throughout the semester. With programming beginning in September, ICL offers more than 70 classes and clubs, ranging from workouts with certified coaches and geology field trips to literature, self-help and political science classes. Membership is $60 per semester or $90 for the full year.

“ICL enriches the daily lives of nearly a thousand members, helping people to live happy, healthy lives,“ Dr. Robert Kramer, director of ICL, said.

A community of active lifelong learners, ICL also offers wellness programs, field trips and social activities to enhance members’ intellectual and creative growth and wellbeing. Classes change every semester, but range from actively participating in exercise and wellness programs, art and cooking classes and music lessons to lecture-style courses on technology, local history and Mark Twain. Other classes include instruction on genealogy, engineering, travel and botany.
