Spring registration open for Utah Tech University’s Institute for Continued Learning community classes, clubs

In its 45th year of offering classes, clubs, activities and events to community members, Utah Tech University’s Institute for Continued Learning has opened registration for the Spring 2025 semester.

Open to all lifelong learners in the area, ICL allows participants to enroll in as many classes, wellness programs, field trips and social activities as they’d like for one fee of $60 per semester. Spring classes begin Jan. 13, but participants can join anytime.

“We offer over 60 classes that are designed for folks like us who are 50 and better,” Wendy King, vice president of the Institute for Continued Learning, said. “The really cool thing about ICL is there is one membership, and you can take as many classes as you want during the semester.”

Classes change every semester, but range from actively participating in exercise and wellness programs, square dancing and pizza party cooking classes to lecture-style courses on financially planning for retirement, Utah history and Mark Twain. Other classes include botany field trips, drawing and brain exercises, digital photography, travel, archaeology and more.

“ICL courses, clubs and events are more than a distraction – they are a lifestyle,” Robert Kramer, the director of ICL, said. “Members love the professionalism, variety and ever-changing offerings.  Join the hottest thing in St. George (except for the weather in July).”

The Institute for Continued Learning features classes taught by experts in the field and fellow ICL members. While the institute attracts a large number of retired and semi-retired community members, it is open to anyone of any age.
