Utah Tech University invites the community to join the institution in experiencing the magic of the holiday season by attending its seventh annual Tree Lighting Celebration.
The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the Holland Plaza, located on Trailblazer Boulevard directly off University Avenue. The ceremonial lighting of the 40-foot light tree will take place at 6 p.m. The event is free, and the community is encouraged to attend.
“The Tree Lighting Celebration is one of my favorite events of the year because it brings so many magical connections and cherished memories to life,” Brenna McCue, events and promotions coordinator at Utah Tech University, said. “There’s something truly special about this season that resonates with all of us – it fills our hearts with warmth and holiday cheer.”
The event will include live performances, seasonal treats and booths featuring games and activities such as gingerbread cookie decorating, ornament making and writing letters to Santa. The event will also feature carriage and tractor rides as well as pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Additionally, the first 500 attendees will receive the annual UT ornament unique to this year’s event. At 5:55 p.m., Santa Claus will make his grand entrance and read the Trailblazer Tree Lighting Declaration before lighting the Christmas tree at 6 p.m.
“Every year, I get goosebumps, even here in sunny St. George, as the tree lights up and symbolizes the unity of our community and the joy we share together,” McCue said.
