Supported by a 4.77 percent increase in students over last year, Utah Tech University welcomed its largest-ever student body this fall, according to official enrollment numbers released by the Utah System of Higher Education today.
According to USHE’s enrollment data, Utah Tech’s Fall 2024 student body consists of 13,167 individuals. This year’s growth is part of an over decade-long trend, as UT’s enrollment has increased by 58% since enrolling 8,350 students in Fall 2013.
“Utah Tech University’s remarkable growth this fall is reflective of our commitment to providing an accessible, affordable and high-quality education in one of the most spectacular areas of the country,” Darlene Dilley, Utah Tech’s associate provost for enrollment management, said.
The university’s total enrollment includes 82% Utah residents. Enrollment numbers also indicate that women are leading the way on campus, as 58% of the Utah Tech student population is female. This class is also the most diverse in UT’s history, with 24% of the student body coming from diverse populations.
Utah Tech University’s increase in students has been accompanied by growth in academic programs, facilities and active learning opportunities. The institution has increased its academic offerings by 18 programs in the last academic year alone for a total of 293 programs across campus. As an open, comprehensive, polytechnic university, Utah Tech’s academic model includes hands-on learning experiences that prepare students to graduate career ready and gain industry experience while earning their degree.
To accommodate the growing student population, Utah Tech opened Campus View Suites III to 564 students this fall. This 164,600-square-foot facility makes it easier for more students to access academic resources, such as tutoring, peer coaching and study groups, as well as take advantage of student life activities and offerings. Campus continues to grow with the General Classroom Building under construction. Set to open prior to the Fall 2025 semester, this facility will add to campus 53 teaching spaces such as classrooms and labs, 125 faculty offices and 26 collaborative spaces to facilitate the hands-on learning experiences that are central to Utah Tech’s “active learning. active life.” approach to education.
