After preparing the entire academic year to share their love of dance and performance with the community, Utah Tech University’s Ballroom Dance Company is presenting their spring concert this month.
The concert is set to take place on April 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. in UT’s Main Stage Theater of the Eccles Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $15 and available at utahtech.evenue.net/events/DANCE.
“Our ballroom team is truly exceptional, and I would recommend that everyone attends their concert,” Ali Threet, dean of students at Utah Tech, said. “They are great ambassadors for the university in local schools and internationally. They work hard and truly embrace the trailblazing spirit.”
In line with Utah Tech’s “active learning. active life.” approach to education, the Utah Tech Ballroom Dance Company provides students with educational development through ballroom dance. In fact, the majority of company members are not dance majors. Instead, the company includes students who are working toward careers in medicine, education, art, technology and more.
Students in the Ballroom Dance Company learn leadership skills by performing throughout the community. Over the course of this school year, the company has performed at many different elementary schools, promoting the importance of keeping their bodies healthy, strong and active. They also have partnered with the One Kind Act a Day initiative to encourage kids to spread kindness. In May, the Ballroom Dance Company will travel to Japan to participate in a recruiting tour to share their performance and the value of “active learning. active life.”
“The exposure our ballroom team has provided for Utah Tech this year is unbelievable,” Del Beatty, vice president of student affairs at Utah Tech, said. “These students are so talented, and their coaches are amazing. I’m really excited to see the hard work they have put in this year.”
