After conducting a national search, Utah Tech University has selected Dr. Linda Yu as its new dean for the College of Business. Yu started her tenure with the university this month.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Yu to Utah Tech University,” Dr. Michael Lacourse, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Utah Tech, said. “Dr. Yu brings with her a wealth of expertise in fostering academic program expansion and driving heightened student enrollment, with a specialized focus on the graduate level. I am excited and invigorated by her leadership as she is poised to enhance student learning and bolster the success of our aspiring business students.”
Yu comes to Utah Tech from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she was the interim associate dean of graduate programs for the College of Business and previously was chair of the Department of Finance and Business Law for 11 years. Overall, Yu served as a faculty and administrator at Whitewater for 20 years, where she was instrumental in developing an online master’s degree in finance program and helped build the finance program into one of the largest majors on campus. Prior to her time at Whitewater, Yu was an assistant professor of business at State University of New York Polytechnic Institute.
Yu’s work has been published in leading finance journals, including the Financial Analyst Journal, Financial Management and the Journal of Fixed Income. Yu attended Jilin University in Changchun, China, and earned a bachelor’s degree in British Literature. She subsequently earned her MBA from Pittsburg State University in Kansas and then her doctorate in finance at the University of Memphis.
