Author Monte Holm, who has extensive experience working in financial services, will present “From Short Creek to Wall Street” at the next installment of the President’s Colleagues of Dixie State University meeting series.
The meeting will take place at noon on Oct. 4 in Lecture Hall 156 of Dixie State’s Russell C. Taylor Health Science Center, located on the Dixie Regional Medical Center campus at 1526 East Medical Center Drive. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Holm spent his early years on a family farm, later moving to the St. George area where he attended Dixie State University. During his college years, Holm met and married his wife, Lisa, and they began building their life together. Their opportunities have taken them to many places, including Las Vegas, Georgia and North Carolina, but they always circle back to St. George.
Working together, the Holms built Transamerica Financial Advisors, a world-wide financial services company. In addition to serving as Transamerica Financial Advisors’ co-founder and former CEO, Holm is the author of “Expect to Win,” which teaches principles to help people bring balance to their lives.
Holm has served as a director for several charitable organizations, including the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College Foundation and the WFG Foundation. The Holms are great supporters of Dixie State and are recognized on campus in the Holland Centennial Commons with the Monte and Lisa Holm Mezzanine, which is known as the Holm Room. Additionally, in 2011, Holm was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Dixie State University.
The President’s Colleagues meeting series will continue on Nov. 1 at noon in the Taylor Health Science Center with a presentation by Tim Martin, leader of the St. George Interfaith Council and retired submarine engineering officer.
The President’s Colleagues of DSU, established more than 20 years ago by former DSU President Douglas Alder, is a group of community members and retired professors and professionals. Alder, who also started DSU’s Honors Program, organized the group as a way to increase academic activities on campus.
