The Live Long. Live Well. – also referred to as LIVE! – program is launching a six-week wellness challenge in which individuals are encouraged to complete specific wellness activities for a chance to earn various prizes.
The LIVE! Program and Wellness Challenge is in partnership with the Institute of Continued Learning at Dixie State University and starts on Feb. 15. The free initiative, which can be completed in teams or individually, is open to anyone age 50 and older and offers three challenges. Participants can take part in as many or few of the challenges as they like.
“Taken together, these challenges provide a social/emotional, physical and cognitive balance, each challenge strengthens the other,” said Robert Kramer, director of ICL. “Together, they increase longevity, happiness and resistance to illness. Even if you do just one challenge, you will reap long lasting benefits.”
The objective of the LIVE! program is to help participants live long, healthy and happy lives while helping communities become healthy and happy places to live. Participants will fill out daily or weekly online tracking forms as they complete the challenge for the day. For teams, a team captain must be designated on the application with a list of team members. Prizes are given out at the end of the challenge, and those who sign up for more challenges are entered to win bigger prizes.
“As we continue to deal with the COVID pandemic, I find the wellness challenge to be a great opportunity to prioritize in yourself,” said Allen Christensen, the health promotion & wellness operations manager for the Intermountain LiveWell Center – St. George. “The challenge is an easy way to get family or friends involved to provide structure and accountability to help kick start or reignite some good lifestyle behavior changes.”
The first 100 people to sign up will receive a free water bottle or flying disc from the Intermountain LiveWell Center. The final prizes that participants can win for completing the LIVE! Wellness Challenge include cash, gift cards, Harmon’s cooking classes, a pickle ball set, and more.
