Dixie State University celebrates its 108th birthday with a bison tour
Dixie State University invites the community to join in celebrating its 108th birthday by touring eight of the hand-painted Trailblazer bison statues placed throughout St. George as part of the Trailblazer Art in the City project.
Dixie State’s birthday celebration is set to take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 19. No ticket or admission fee is required and everyone in the community is invited to join in the celebration. There will be free treats and gifts given out at each participating bison around the city. A map of the bison tour is available at utahtech.edu/birthday.
“We’re inviting all of Washington County to come and celebrate with us,” Dixie State’s Alumni Director John Bowler said. “By bringing this long-standing celebration to the people of our community, we can engage them in our principal mission of improving the lives of others.”
The Trailblazer Art in the City project was designed not only to promote local artists and businesses, but also to foster a strong university town atmosphere and strengthen the ties between Dixie State and the community.
The bison located at the following sponsoring businesses will be included in Dixie’s birthday celebration: Katering Koncepts, Patches of Iris & Violet, Wittwer Hospitality, Town Square Park, Ken Garff St. George Ford Lincoln, Stapley Pharmacy, Atwood Innovation Plaza, and Tagg-N-Go.
