Dixie State University president to deliver State of the University Address
In recognition of Dixie State University’s continued growth, President Richard B. Williams will share about the accomplishments of the past year and the vision for the upcoming year at his annual State of the University Address.
Taking place on Wednesday Sept. 18, the address will detail annual achievements, including updates on campus growth and a report on the progress of the University’s strategic plan, Dixie 2020: Status to Stature. The State of the University is open to the community and is set to take place at 11 a.m. in the M.K. Cox Performing Arts Center on the Dixie State campus. Complimentary lunch will be served immediately following the address.
“It has been both humbling and inspiring to see the growth of Dixie State University over the past five years,” Williams shared. “I am excited to see what the next year holds as we finish our strategic plan, continue to grow and move to Division I athletics.”
Much of the growth at Dixie State in recent years has come from a collective commitment to its five-year strategic plan. Initiated in 2015 as a map to guide the university in its growth from gaining university status to securing university stature by 2020, many of the goals outlined in the strategic plan have been achieved.
In showcasing the work on the strategic goals Williams will highlight increases in graduate and baccalaureate degree programs, certification programs and emphasis areas. Adding 16 new programs in the last year alone, DSU has already exceeded its goals to expand academic programs, currently offering 45 bachelor’s and four graduate degree programs.
To accommodate the university’s student and academic growth, not only are construction and expansion projects in progress across campus, but others are in store as well. Specifically, Williams will talk about the amenities and features of the recently-opened Human Performance Center, as well as the groundbreaking for the upcoming Science, Engineering & Technology facility.
Williams will also share of DSU’s success increasing student enrollment, investing in faculty and staff, and strengthening the civic, cultural, and economic climate in southern Utah.
