Dixie State University earns International Tutor Training Program Certification
The College Reading & Learning Association recently awarded Dixie State University’s Academic Performance and Writing centers with the International Tutor Training Program Certification.
With this certification, DSU’s Academic Performance and Writing centers are qualified to train and certify tutors in the basics of offering academic assistance. The certification provides recognition and positive reinforcement for tutors’ work while offering training programs based on a set of internationally accepted standards.
“The International Tutor Training Program Certification provides professionals with the opportunity to create, improve and expand tutor and mentor training for their campus’ unique programs,” Kelly Peterson-Fairchild, dean of Library & Learning Services at Dixie State, said.
According to the certification’s review team, Dixie State excellently used technology and interactive assignments to fully engage tutors in the learning process, resulting in “a richly complex, multi-layered course containing links to excellent material with extensive use of reflective questions to encourage thoughtful tutor response.”
Open to the entire student body, Dixie State University’s Academic Performance and Writing centers offer a variety of tutoring and writing services such as face-to-face and online tutoring in multiple subject areas. The centers’ tutors offer students personalized attention to accommodate each student’s unique challenges and accomplish academic goals at no additional cost to Dixie State students, faculty and staff.
