World-class violinist, pianist to duel in DSU’s next All-Steinway Series concert

Featuring two world-class musicians going head to head in the ultimate duel, the Dixie State University Music Department presents French Violinist Esther Abrami and Italian Pianist Niccolò Ronchi in Violin vs. Piano. Part of Dixie State’s All-Steinway Series, the concert-show will highlight two of the most talented classical musicians of the new generation as Abrami and Ronchi engage in a musical battle to assert the supremacy of their solo instruments. The recital is set to take place at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the Dolores Doré Eccles Fine Arts Center Concert Hall on the Dixie State Campus. Tickets are $10 and available at the DSU Ticket Office located in the M.K. Cox Performing Arts Center or online at tickets.dsutix.com. “Both world-class musicians will be showcasing several of the most beautiful pieces ever written for the two instruments and will ultimately combine to portray the nuances of the human soul,” Dixie State Professor of Music Dr. Nancy Allred said. Described as a rising star by Strings magazine, Abrami graduated from the Conservatory Darius Milhaud in France at the age of 14 and went on to study at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, England. This year, she is representing the Royal College of Music at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Additionally, Abrami won first prize at the Vatelot Rampal Violin Competition and third place in the strings category at the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition last year. Starting his piano studies at an early age, Ronchi’s repertoire ranges from the Baroque and Romantic periods to the late 20th century. He quickly made a name for himself after competing in a series of national and international piano competitions. Ronchi has also won first place in over 50 competitions across the globe and has performed in over 200 recitals and concerts both as a soloist and with orchestras. The All-Steinway Series promotes DSU’s effort to become an All-Steinway School and features the Model D Concert Grand Steinway piano Zions Bank donated to the university in 2016. Becoming an All-Steinway School offers DSU students a world-class instrument to play and a professional performance experience from freshman year to graduation.
