Dixie State University ranked on U.S. News’ lists of best colleges nationwide
Dixie State University has been ranked on U.S. News’ 2019 lists of the nation’s best colleges and universities based on its strong performance in 15 different areas of academic excellence.
Dixie State was ranked 26th in the Regional Colleges West category, a division the university was placed in for focusing on undergraduate degrees and offering academic programs beyond liberal arts disciplines. More specifically, DSU finished 7th among public schools in the Regional Colleges West category, and was ranked the highest among all institutions in Utah in any category. This year, U.S. News divided 1,800 regionally accredited institutions into 10 different categories to produce 10 independent rankings.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to expand and improve the academic offerings and student-life experience at Dixie State University, and we have done so at an unprecedented rate,” Dixie State President Richard “Biff” Williams said. “To be ranked the highest among all state colleges in any category for our state is the direct result of this combined effort and we could not be more pleased.”
To rank the institutions within each category, U.S. News looked at a variety of academic standards, such as retention and graduation rates, student excellence, assessments from peer institutions’ administrators, faculty strength and alumni giving.
The most affordable university in the state, Dixie State offers more than 200 academic programs, small class sizes and over 70 campus clubs to make The Dixie Life unique to southern Utah. Additionally, the university offers personalized, engaged learning experiences under the direction of dedicated faculty and staff in accordance with its “active learning. active life.” approach to education.
