Community, Continuing Education programs offering fall classes
Enrollment is now open for fall classes offered through Dixie State University’s Community Education program. Open to all teens and adults, DSU’s more than 60 community education classes explore a variety of subjects ranging from music, dance and art to personal finance, self-protection and foreign languages.
A collaborative effort between Dixie State, the City of St. George and the Washington County School District, the Community Education program is ideal for anyone seeking to gain a new skill, social interaction or self-improvement. Beginning in September and continuing until December, the noncredit-bearing classes usually take place once per week in the evening. Classes vary from one night to twelve weeks in length and range in price from $10 to $99.
“We are really excited about our classes this fall,” Tyson Pulsipher, director of Community & Continuing Education at Dixie State, said. “We have our returning classes that continue to be popular as well as many new offerings we haven't had before. We're confident the community will have a great time learning as they ‘Rediscover Community Education.’”
Additionally, Dixie State offers dozens of Continuing Education opportunities that are geared toward professional development and career advancement. These noncredit-bearing programs are recognized by their respective industries as legitimate training programs and offer students an affordable opportunity to gain valuable workplace skills. While Dixie State’s Continuing Education offerings continue to grow, programs currently are available in the legal field, including a paralegal certificate course, English as a Second Language and allied healthcare.
Registration for Community Education and Continuing Education classes is available in person at the Dixie State Campus at the North Plaza Building, located at 46 S. 1000 East, over the phone at 435-652-7929 or online at ce.utahtech.edu. More information is available on the website and in the Community Education brochure that is being mailed to St. George area residents. Additional copies will be available for pickup at the Community Education office and Hurricane Education Center in early September. The brochure will also provide information on university programs for residents looking to become involved at Dixie State University.
