Ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate new Campus View Suites at Dixie State University
In celebration of the increased growth and expansion of campus, Dixie State University will host a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony to present the new Campus View Suites.
The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at noon in the Campus View Suites courtyard, located at 974 East 100 South. An open house will directly follow the ceremony and will offer community members and students a chance to tour the facilities until 2 p.m.
“Students attending Dixie State University now have a modern and exciting student housing complex conveniently located on-campus,” said Seth Gubler, director of Housing and Resident Life.
Special guests speaking at the ceremony include DSU President Richard “Biff” Williams and Student Body President Sarah Ramaker with a special appearance by Brooks the Bison. A student currently living in Campus View Suites will also offer a testimonial about her experience living in the campus’ newest addition. Layton Construction and Method Studio Architecture, who were tasked with the design and construction of the building, will also give remarks.
Campus View Suites adds approximately 350 beds to Dixie State’s on-campus, single-student housing. The large glass windows surrounding the common areas on the building’s northwest corner not only give Campus View Suites a modern look, they also give a glimpse into the liveliness of the students living there.
“We intentionally designed a lot of glass for common areas so passersby could see the ‘resident life’ aspect of the building,” Gubler said. “It has been fun hearing people in the community comment on the student activity they see while driving by the building at night.”
An exceeding amount of preparation went into the planning of amenities and features offered in order to enhance the students’ experiences. These elements include game rooms, a fitness room, indoor secure bike storage, trash chutes on each floor, a multipurpose room for social/educational events and computer stations. These will all be available to visit and tour after the ceremony.
“Dixie is really growing and there is a buzz you can feel as soon as you step on the campus,” said Megan Church, DSU’s events and promotions specialist. “Campus View Suites is an incredibly impressive building that really celebrates the growth of Dixie.”
