Desert Hills grad wins Dixie State University full-tuition waiver
Paying for college just got a little easier for Desert Hills High School graduate Tayler Rowley, who was the lucky winner of Dixie State University’s full-tuition waiver giveaway.
Thinking she won a Trailblazer prize package, Rowley received the surprise of a lifetime when Canyon Media and Dixie State University representatives showed up at her place of employment with balloons and a giant check in hand.
“The waiver will help me a lot,” said Rowley, who is thinking about majoring in Dental Hygiene at Dixie State. “It was a big relief that I have some help from the beginning.”
Effective for the Fall 2016 semester, the waiver contest was held as a way to thank the community for their constant support of the university. Entered by 830 residents, the contest boasted a prize valued at $2,051.76, the cost of full-time tuition for a semester.
“All of us here at Dixie State University are thrilled to welcome Tayler to campus next week, when the Fall 2016 semester gets underway,” DSU President Richard “Biff” Williams said. “I’d also like to personally encourage each and every Washington County resident to consider coming to Dixie to accomplish his or her educational goals by earning a degree from our community’s university.”
The tuition giveaway was open for Washington County residents to enter from the middle of June until the middle of August. Additionally, one participant was randomly selected each week to receive a Trailblazer gift package provided by the DSU Campus Store.
Registration for the Fall 2016 semester is still open, and classes start Aug. 22. With more than 150 academic programs, Dixie State University has the perfect course of study to help students accomplish their educational goals and advance their careers. Additionally, with Dixie State University’s emphasis on “active learning, active life,” students gain hands-on experience in the classroom and personal attention from their professors that prepare them for successful careers.
