Dixie State University will host St. George City Mayor Jon Pike as he presents “What is St. George?” at the next President’s Colleagues of DSU meeting.

During his presentation, Pike will discuss what St. George means to him, give an update on city happenings, and talk about his vision and plans for the future. The meeting will begin at noon on Monday, April 4, in Room 156 of Dixie State’s Russell C. Taylor Health Science Center, located on Dixie Regional Medical Center’s River Road campus, 1526 Medical Center Drive. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Pike was elected to the St. George City Council in 2007 and to the mayor’s office in 2013. He serves on the boards for Dixie State University, Dixie Applied Technology College, the Utah League of Cities and Towns, and the Washington County Water Conservancy District.

Pike was raised in Salt Lake City and earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Utah and an MBA from Westminster College.  He has worked for Intermountain Healthcare since 1990, and right here in St. George since 1995. Pike said serving as the project manager for the planning and construction of Dixie Regional Medical Center’s River Road campus, which opened in 2003, was one of the highlights of his career. He currently works as the regional operations director for SelectHealth, the health insurance division of Intermountain Healthcare.

The President’s Colleagues of Dixie State University, established more than 20 years ago by former DSU President Dr. Douglas Alder, is a group of retired professors and other professionals who live mostly in the Washington County area. Dr. Alder, who also started DSU’s Honors Program, organized the Colleagues as a way to increase academic activities on campus.

During their last meeting of the 2015-16 academic year, the Colleagues will hear from Dixie State University President Dr. Richard B. Williams. He will deliver the annual DSU update from noon to 1 p.m. on May 2 in Room 156 of Dixie State’s Russell C. Taylor Health Science Center.  Learn more about Dixie State University at www.utahtech.edu.
