Utah Shakespeare Festival Panel to Present at Dixie Forum

Dixie State University's weekly "Dixie Forum: A Window on the World" series will continue its fall lineup with a presentation about the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
A panel of the festival's actors and artists will present from noon to 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Dunford Auditorium in the Browning Resource Center on the DSU campus. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
The panel — composed of Production Manager Becky Merold, Costume Shop Supervisor Jennifer L. Bach and actors Chris Mixon, Tyler Pierce and Jamie Ann Romero — will talk all about their particular job functions at the festival as well as the Utah Shakespeare Festival itself.
Merold has been with the Utah Shakespeare Festival for 13 seasons. Most recently, she has served as stage manager for the festival's productions of "Into the Woods," "Anything Goes," "The Merry Wives of Windsor," "Mary Stuart" and "Titus Andronicus."

Mixon, who is in his fifth season of performing with USF, is portraying Renfield in this year's production of "Dracula" as well as Launce in "The Two Gentlemen of Verona." Among performing other roles, he starred as Charlie in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" at the festival. Additionally, he performed in the Broadway tour of "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying."
Pierce stars as the title character in "Dracula" and Panthino/Eglamour in "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" at the festival this year. Previously at USF, Pierce portrayed Lord Mowbray/Beadle in Part Two of "Henry IV" and Edgar in "King Lear."
Romero is taking on the role of Silvia in the festival's production of "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" and Lucy in "Dracula." Among other roles she has taken on, Romero has portrayed Jo/Eddie/Miss Auburn Sienna in the world premiere of "The Legend of Georgia McBride" at Denver Center Theatre.
Bach has served as USF's costume shop supervisor since 2008. Additionally, she served as the costumer for season brochures from 2011 to 2013, the rental coordinator since 2011 and the draper for the educational tour of "Twelfth Night" in 2009 and Marley's Ghost in the Playmakers' production of "A Christmas Carol" in 2010.
Dixie Forum is a weekly lecture series designed to introduce the St. George community and DSU students, faculty and staff to diverse ideas and personalities while widening their worldviews via a 50-minute presentation. The Dixie Forum series will be on recess next week as students will observe fall break later in the week, but will resume Oct. 20 when Fernando Rubio presents "Learning Languages in the Age of Connectedness" at noon in the Dunford Auditorium.
