A Utah painter and sculptor who has received national acclaim for her sensitive portrayals of the human face and figure, L'Deane Trueblood will present at the next lecture in Dixie State University's "Dixie Forum: A Window on the World" series.
Trueblood will present about the art of sculpture from noon to 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Dunford Auditorium in the Browning Resource Center on the DSU campus. Admission is free for all community members and DSU students, faculty and staff.

Boasting a longstanding partnership with Dixie State, Trueblood was awarded the Purchase Prize at the institution's inaugural Robert N. & Peggy Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show & Sale in 1988 for her bronze "Sarai." Today, 26 of Trueblood's bronze sculptures are on display around the St. George community. Specifically, her statue of Vicki Van Meter is on display at the St. George Municipal Airport and her work is shown at Authentique Gallery. Trueblood has received many top awards in regional and national shows and is listed in "Utah's 100 Most Honored Artists" and "Who's Who in American Art."
An active supporter of the arts, Trueblood was appointed by two governors to serve on the Board of the Utah Arts Council. Locally, she helped create "Art Around the Corner," the outdoor sculpture exhibit in downtown St. George.
Dixie Forum is a lecture series designed to introduce the St. George community and DSU students, faculty and staff to diverse ideas and personalities while widening their worldviews via a 50-minute presentation. The weekly series will continue Tuesday, March 3, at noon in the Dunford Auditorium. The DSU Undergraduate Research Committee will present about research opportunities available at Dixie State.
