The first-year competition, hosted by the U of U's Finance Department, featured a "finance case" event, during which students Scott Donnell (Sr., Riverton, Utah), Dillon Schmutz (Sr., St. George), Brady Pierce (Sr., Payson, Utah) and Robert Horn (Sr., St. George) bested all comers to claim first place. For their efforts, each student received a $150 gift card.
"I expected this type of presentation from graduate students, but this is extraordinary coming from undergrads," said Bob Dalley, CFO of Deseret Power, in reference to the polished presentation skills of the DSU team.
